| 1. | Corporation Meets The semi-annual corporation meeting was held at the 24th Street Club House on April 18th, 1944 at 8:00 P.M. Fifty-two members attended (A.A.s who have been dry a year or more). | June 1944 | |
| 2. | The Alano Club (by E. T.) The first A.A. member in Chicago contacted the Akron group in the fall of 1937 and slowly over the next two years assembled a group of six members, at which time the first formal A.A. meeting was held. Since that time--September 20, 1939--regular weekly meetings have been held in Chicago. It is interesting to note that three of the first six in the group were advised to try A.A. by physicians. Since that time the friendly sympathy of many Chicago physicians of alcoholic patients with whom they had struggled in vain has contributed greatly to the growth of the group. | October 1945 | |
| 3. | We're Not "Pros (by Bill W.) In Alcoholics Anonymous, does money make the mare go or is it the root of all evil? We are in the process of solving that riddle. Nobody pretends to have the complete answer. Where the proper use of money ends--and its misuse begins--is the point in "spiritual space" we are all seeking. Few group problems are giving thoughtful A.A.s more concern than this. Every one is asking, "What shall be our attitude toward voluntary contributions, paid workers, professionalism, and outside donations?" | May 1946 | |

| 5. | A. A.'s Country-wide News Circuit A.A. activities in Central New York gained spirited impetus with the recent inauguration of a plan for speakers of one group to handle the meeting of another group and continuing the exchange of speakers until the circle of neighboring groups has been completed. . . . The Syracuse Central Group, which has been lucky enough to find larger headquarters--in the Onondaga Hotel--reports that the Eastwood branch is fast outgrowing its infancy, and that in Fulton they're continuing to roll 'em in. | October 1946 | |
| 6. | Valuable Social Aids (by Bill W.) THE club idea has become part of A.A. life. Scores of these hospitable havens can report years of useful service; new ones are being started monthly. Were a vote taken tomorrow on the desirability of clubs a sizeable majority of A.A.s would record a resounding "Yes." There would be thousands who would testify that they might have had a harder time staying sober in their first months of A.A. without clubs and that, in any case, they would always wish the easy contacts and warm friendships which clubs afford. | April 1947 | |

| 8. | Mail Call for A.A.s at Home and Abroad (by W.O.G.) Massachusetts -- WE all believe that no one can truly understand the alcoholic as can another alcoholic. By the same token, I believe that no one can fully understand the problem of an A.A. member, who has had a slip, or several slips, the way another "slippee" can. Having had mine, I feel qualified to speak a few words to those who find themselves in the same category. | May 1949 | |
| 9. | Don't Let George Do It (by An AA M.D.) SEVERAL months ago a reprint of an article entitled, "Alcoholism--a Challenge to the Medical Profession," appeared in The A. A. Grapevine. | March 1950 | |
| 10. | The Arena (by D.R.) Dear Editor: Are you trying to mess up the serenity of AAs in 15 southeastern states with all this hullabaloo about Cleveland? Evidently you don't work on the first things first premise. | June 1950 | |
