August 2011: A Tale of Two Sisters

They couldn't be more different, yet their bond is unshakeable
Uh, hello?” I said into the receiver of my 100 pound telephone. I didn’t recognize the number on the Caller ID.
“Hi Beverly! It’s Joan E., from the Saturday morning women’s meeting, just calling to say hello and visit a little bit.”
Visit? On the phone? These AA women are a little bit different, I thought to myself.
I was 42 at the time and this lady was 22, with a toddler and another baby on the way. What on earth is she calling me for?
