Doctors' Opinions

More can be done to educate the medical community about alcoholism

A few weeks ago, at my local Big Book study group, we had a discussion about doctors. Members seemed to be unanimously complaining about how poorly doctors understand alcoholism and recovery. I can acknowledge and appreciate criticism regarding the medical community, but when I was at the World Convention last summer in San Antonio and AA presented it’s 30 millionth Big Book to the American Medical Association, I cried tears of gratitude for the medical professionals who helped save my life.
