An old timer attends a meeting to hear an old friend speak and finds himself of service to a newcomer

Our local Intergroup publishes a lead sheet of who is speaking and at what meeting, using first names and last initial.
Several months ago, I was looking over the list and saw an unusual first name and the initial of his last name. It was a man I met at a meeting and enjoyed his friendship over many years, yet had never heard his story. It was a drive of about 40 miles, but I wanted to hear him so off I went.
When I arrived, a young man standing in the doorway introduced himself as the speaker—same first name and last initial, yet not the man I had come to hear.
