Seventh Tradition - Every AA group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions

Over the years, I've been privileged to hear a number of AAs tell why the Traditions were drafted and why adherence to them is of continuing importance to the AA Fellowship.

Early in my AA life, I was told that everything in the book Alcoholics Anonymous is there for a reason and could be used in developing and practicing a personal "program." And that included the Traditions, both the short form, which is read at many meetings, and the long form, which is read at very few meetings.
