Drifting Along to the Bottom
During my early drinking years, I thought I had the power of choice. I tried to take control of my life, and you can imagine what a mistake that was. Like a tumbleweed, I bounced from job to job, with one bad choice after another. I grew up in an environment where drugs, alcohol and women were all around me. This was just the way my world was, and I chose to drink. Alcohol became my crutch. It helped me to cope with the way I was living. I depended on it every day, all day. When asked why I did it, I would say, “Doesn’t everyone drink?”
