I started drinking at age 12 after my parents divorced. I went to live with my mother and her abusive, alcoholic boyfriend. After they kicked me out of the house three years later, I tried living with my father, but he was fighting his own battle with drugs and alcohol and he wasn’t able to care for me. I floated around from house to house and a few abandoned buildings until I was 18, when I got my own place.
