Getting Past the Second Step?
Responses from readers concerning two pieces in the November 1996 issue: "We Tread Innumerable Paths" and "A Larger Welcome"
June L. talks about how in the old days, "We didn't discuss struggles with belief nor what God is really like nor. . .how God works in our lives if we let him." How can you get past the Second Step without such discussions? These statements seem to be based on the notion that sobriety is something we pull off on our own. If that's true, then why do we need AA? If I have the power to not drink, then why do I need any part of the AA program?
