Responses from readers to the special section in the May 2000 Grapevine titled, "Is AA for Everyone?"

I am writing this letter in response to Anonymous in "Alone Among Many." In January 1985, I had had enough. I sought out a treatment center in Chicago. I had good insurance, and they welcomed me with open arms. During my twenty-eight-day stint, they took me to meetings. I am of Polish descent. All of my fellow AA attendees were African-American. Afterward, I went to the same meetings that I was introduced to while in the treatment center, and yes, I was the only nonblack at those meetings.
