Cult-like or just welcoming?
Are we driving away people who desperately need AA because of the religiosity of an increasing number of members?
It certainly seems cultish to introduce oneself more than once at a meeting and it's downright silly to say, "My name is_____; still an alcoholic" when speaking for a second time. It's also a waste of time to say, "Thank you, _____" every time an individual shares; time that could be better used to permit more people to share at discussion meetings. It's as if there's a secret formula one must follow to join AA.
