August 2012: The Water Slide
Who knew letting go would cause such a splash?
After I had complained at AA meetings for several months that the action of letting go and letting God was a foreign and incomprehensible prescription for my daily self-imposed sufferings, an AA friend confronted me with the following proposal:
“We’re all tired of hearing you bellyache about letting go and letting God,” she said. “You’ve been here far too long not to grasp this concept. I want you to meet me at the water slide in East Portland at the mall tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. Bring your swim trunks.”
