Toward the end, my drinking had gotten bad. I didn't know it was coming to a close. I certainly should have. It felt like I was standing in the eye of a storm, and was unable to do anything but watch as pieces of my life were torn up and thrown away.

By this time, my wife was fed up with my drinking. She had packed herself up and our two little boys, and was ready to move to her parents in the northern part of the state.
