To Live

After multiple relapses, she hit bottom once and for all

I had goals, dreams and aspirations for my life and looked to the future with excitement. My dad was an engineer, my mom was a homemaker and I have one older brother. I turned away from what I was taught and started directing my own life around the time that I discovered alcohol. Alcohol was not allowed in our house because of my parents' beliefs but more importantly because alcoholism runs throughout both sides of our extended family. I knew it was in the genes but I didn't understand what it meant to be alcoholic until I lived it. I never believed that this could happen to me.
