Sometimes when we question things, we get very specific answers

I was new to AA and had been going to a meeting a day for about six weeks. I had chosen a sponsor and we had worked through Step 1. However, despite a traditional Presbyterian upbringing that included Sunday school, Children's Choir, Youth Fellowship and regular church attendance, I was having difficulty embracing Step Two.

I was planning a 10-day trip from the fast pace of Greater New York City to Utah to visit friends and take my mind off the constant worry about my unemployment and financial situation.
