Finally At Peace

The Promises came true for her after she worked the Steps with her sponsor

Three years into my marriage, my husband revealed to me that he was a transvestite. I dove into the vodka bottle and stayed there for five years. During that time, I fell and shattered my spine. It all wreaked havoc on my family. I saw my self-esteem and self-worth erode.

Then one day, I awoke in my own filth after my first real blackout. I had experienced what I called "brown-outs" before but this time I lost several hours totally. When I came to, my husband was sitting at the kitchen table with his head in his hands. Neither of us said a word. As I showered that day, I had a thought that must have come from God. The thought was, "Go to AA."
