Who after seeing the future, one of a living hell, would proceed in doing what would almost destroy her? I suffer from the disease of addiction. I believed I was too smart to allow a disease to destroy me. I thought: It will never get me.

At age 12, I took my first drink. I thought it was the best thing that had ever happened to me. Since that time, I have learned that addiction is a disease I was born with, one that has no cure, and can only be arrested with my active program of recovery.
