Boston Girl

She had her first drink celebrating a new ship in the harbor. It was also her first drunk

I was born in Boston, Mass. in 1927. I had my first drink when I was invited to celebrate a new ship in the Boston Harbor. I was 14 years old and I got very drunk. My father was an alcoholic but my mother never even tasted it. This set the pattern for every time I picked up a drink.

I was married several times and each time to an alcoholic. I had five children and I am sure that alcohol affected my parenting but I feel I have more than made up for it in the many years that I have been sober. I was a daily drinker. If I was awake, I probably had a beer in my hand.
