At his first meeting, he was just about to leave before going in, when someone stopped him
After 33 years of conducting the same drinking experiments, but expecting difference results, I found myself reluctantly entering the side door of a church with the sign, "Friends Of Bill W. meet here."
Confused, I look at the piece of paper on which I had scribbled the address my soon-to-be-sponsor had given me. I wonderd who Bill W. was as I stood off to the side, preparing to bolt.
It seemed to me that I had made an honest attempt to attend an AA meeting and with the thought of leaving right then and there, which appealed to my diseased thinking, I started to walk away....
