From Across the Water

Though living on two different continents, they continued their relationship as sponsor/sponsee

Almost seven years ago, I was living in London, England and celebrating 14 years of sobriety, when a friend asked if I was interested in sponsoring a newcomer. That was the beginning of a wonderful relationship. Although I moved back to Canada in 2009, my sponsee and I continued our relationship via email.

I have kept these emails—167 pages as of today—because they are a beautiful reminder of the many gifts AA has given to both of us. We have revisited the Steps and shared the ups and downs of sober living on both sides of the Atlantic.
