The Spanish-speaking population is one of the fastest-growing segments within the United States. As La Viña’s circulation rises, it illustrates the need to reach all of our members with the life-saving message of AA. This month’s special section highlights stories of experience, strength and hope from our Spanish-speaking AA members.

In the story “Raised in Loisaida,” a Hispanic woman who grew up on New York City’s Lower East Side learns to drink like the boys. A young man gets sober in California and becomes the La Viña and Grapevine Rep for his group in “A New Life for Nicolás.” A woman’s drunken lies stop working when her house of cards finally falls in “Queen of Alibis.” In “A Search for the Ringleader,” a man keeps his cool and gets a wonderful surprise when his family gets stopped at a tense military checkpoint on a visit to Mexico. And in “The Double Life of Paola,” a woman’s husband lands a job in the U.S., and she lands in AA.
