On the Right Track

With the help of a few local AA guys, things are starting to look up for Steve

I did 33 years in prison, most of it in the federal system in Canada. Before my last stay, I had been on the outside for eight years. I attended AA, worked a regular job and got married. I was doing OK.

But then my marriage started to unravel and I isolated myself. I didn’t reach out to my AA family. After a long year of worry, I had a nervous breakdown and attempted suicide. My father had been an alcoholic. He had committed suicide by gassing himself, so I planned to do the same. Not liking the smell of gas, I ate a bunch of different pills and drank a quart of hard stuff so I could go through with it.
