A little meeting in Kansas City has been giving back since AA was six years old

When Alcoholics Anonymous was just six years young, Kansas City Group #1 was started. It recently celebrated 74 years of carrying the message to alcoholics. Our group now has 21 meetings a week and is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Since it started, AA has evolved into having 224 groups in the Greater Kansas City area, with a choice of nearly 500 meetings a day.

Something novel happened at our Kansas City Group #1 around 1970; a young peoples’ meeting was started for members under 40. There were about 30 of us at the time. Some of our members had a few years of sobriety, but most of us were relatively new.
