"My name is Craig and I am an alcoholic." That statement tells the reader the most important fact concerning my lifeāthat I have a progressive, fatal disease that if left untreated will result in an untimely death.
I grew up in an upper middle class house where all was seemingly well. My parents behaved almost God-like. It was not intentional that I was unable to see their imperfections. It was just that they were raised in upper middle class families where their respective fathers were doctors who had transferred impeccable behaviors to their offspring.
