If 100 alcoholics were asked what’s been their greatest loss in recovery, the resounding answer would undoubtedly be the loss of a relationship of a boyfriend, girlfriend or partner. It’s true there are many other things we survive, such as bad health, lack of money and deaths. Regardless, relationships still seem to be the most common.

The other day, I was sitting around feeling sorry for myself about an old relationship. Then God, with his ultimate wisdom, veered me over to the local jail where I got the privilege of sitting around with 20 inmates in orange jumpsuits talking about alcoholism.
