Call the Plumber

He and his grandmother both had bad leaks—she needed the hardware store, he needed AA

Last night I went to my grandmother’s house, and she was in the kitchen cooking. She had the cabinet under the sink open and a bunch of stuff moved out onto the floor. She told me the sink was leaking and everything was wet. I told her not to worry, that I’d fix it. So I started pulling the pipes apart, and found that some of the old plumbing had rusted all the way through. I cut off the water to the sink and tore the back wall down to get to the piping. I then ran to the hardware store and replaced the old piping and sealed it all up.

When I was done, she started crying. I asked her what was wrong and she told me she was so happy I was there to help, and that she was proud of the changes I’ve made in my life. I told her that I couldn’t have done it without God and AA, and all the people he kept in my life—her being one of them.
