Dear Grapevine

Listen up

When i got sober in October 1985, we had two AA meetings at our local library. The audio/video department there had a cassette tape duplicator, so I would ask the old-timers at our meeting to lend me their favorite AA speaker tapes. The library would let me duplicate them. I bought a portable cassette player and would listen joyfully. At the time, I worked cleaning buildings at night. I was always by myself, with a stack of fresh cassettes. I listened to some very funny speakers sharing their experience, strength and hope. They made the long boring nights really quite bearable!
