November 2012: Smile!
Is it OK to take pictures at AA events?
Ever since I came into AA in the ’70s I have viewed cameras at AA events with alarm. When someone takes out a camera, I believe it immediately potentially compromises AA’s promise of anonymity. The fear and shame that others might know they may be an alcoholic may be all that’s needed to keep a newcomer away from the program of recovery that saved our lives.
I recently attended two large AA service events, where it was requested that no recording devices be used. It was ignored.
