One of the earliest gifts of sobriety is the connection a member gets from an AA group once he or she begins to get active and participate. “To watch loneliness vanish, to see a fellowship grow up about you, to have a host of friends—this is an experience you must not miss,” writes our co-founder Bill W. in “Working With Others.” This month’s special section features home group stories by members who have not missed out on this wonderful AA connection.

Though she loves dances, picnics and days at the beach, the writer of “The Rowdiest, Rockingest Group,” says nothing can beat the fun she has with the folks at her Saturday Night AA home group. In “Connected,” a homesick member in a new town finds a unique way to keep the wonderful bond with his beloved long time group. A member in Illinois recalls his journey to find just the right home group and the gifts that just keep coming in “Where the Winners Were.” And in the beautiful story “Lives We Change,” a father visits his daughter’s home group to express his gratitude for the years they gave her.
