Just when he felt too nervous to do service, some guys who needed help saved the day

Last night I drove to an AA meeting where I was asked to speak about my experience with alcoholism. That relentless butterfly in my stomach began flapping its wings a bit faster and my heart quickly followed suit. I had growing anxiety that I would be the epic failure of the century. What if they laugh at me? What am I going to say?

My GPS directed me to a neighborhood I had never been in before. A few people had already put up dangling strands of Christmas lights. I couldn’t believe it was already the holidays. I used to
get wasted in neighborhoods like this one.
