AA helped to change her inner soundtrack

It's not a pleasant place to be sometimes, here inside my head. This is where my disease pulsates with toxic whispers of self-hate, resentments and fears.

It's a scary place where obsessive thoughts run wild. Meetings, meditation and prayers can often silence the damning inner chatter – sometimes for days -- but the voices eventually return. A critical remark, an unreturned phone call or a couple pounds gained is sometimes all it takes to awaken that insidious monster within my head.
