This morning I came across a copy of Grapevine from the mid-1990s, and saw a question on the back page that caught my attention. It was, “What keeps AAs Going?” Underneath this was the response, “emotional sobriety.”
In sobriety, I had learned that if I was to get any semblance of peace of mind in my life, I would have to get my emotions under control and clear my mind of confusion. I had been in a lot of emotional turmoil because of what had happened to me through my obsession with alcohol and my total lack of concern for anything or anyone else.
