REST HOMES FOE THE ALCOHOLIC PATIENT were the subject of reports and discussion at the First Annual Meeting of the New York City Alcoholism Information Center and the Fifth Annual Medical Symposium of the New York City Medical Society on Alcoholism, held jointly on March 5th in New York. Only half of the rest homes investigated by Dr. William Lutz of Suffern, N. Y. were up to what he considered an adequate standard; in the others, he said, where the physical and medical facilities were equally good, he based his recommendation to an alcoholic patient on whether or not the place was managed by AAs, or had AA attendants working with outside AA groups.
