Progress along all fronts in the attack on alcoholism is reported for the year just past by the National Council on Alcoholism. Information supplied by NCA indicates that a widely deployed and growing army of specialists and plain citizens is steadily approaching a common objective from different directions. . . .

Legislation: THIRTY-TWO STATES now have official state agencies (tax supported) charged with carrying out progress of education, rehabilitation and research in varying degrees. Some states, notably Alabama, Texas, California and Florida, have specified funds for out-patient clinics and hospitalization as well as wider educational programs. Out-patient clinics now number 118, with California supporting eight new clinics which were opened during the year 1957.
