In supporting a bill in the Senate for expenditure of public funds for the treatment of alcoholism, Sen. Jacob K. Javits (R.-N. Y.) said that we spend some $380 annually to treat each TB patient, but only 16 cents is spent on the average each year for the treatment and rehabilitation of alcoholics.
