About Alcoholism - Alcoholism Information, Research and Treatment

Never Yet

In a recent letter to the editors of Medical Tribune, a Salt Lake City doctor came up with a few comments on alcoholism, an ailment that many still view as a nondisease. Dr. R. E. Showery's views can be summed up in 16 well-chosen words:

Alcohol causes alcoholism.

Alcoholism can be avoided or cured by drinking beverages that don't contain alcohol.

Maybe this is too simple for our great and scientific society--but we've never yet seen an alcoholic who's never taken a drink.
