Doctor Predicts Breakthrough

Ronald J. Catanzaro, M.D. has outlined, put into practice, and publicized an Inpatient Alcoholic Treatment Program at the William Beaumont General Hospital, El Paso, Texas, a Class II Army Hospital.

At the time he summarized his treatment discipline, Dr. Catanzaro was a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps stationed at the hospital. Writing in Southwestern Medicine he said, "We are on the threshold of another great advance in medicine, i.e., the widespread successful treatment of the alcoholic by the local physician."
