About Alcoholism - Alcoholism Information, Research and Treatment

Cupid or Booze?

That's the hell of alcohol: It dispossesses love. And without love, many a woman feels one might as well be dead. That's why the wife of an alcoholic hates her husband so terribly. He cheated her out of love.

Children, too, are love-orphaned through alcohol. In that pitiful biography of the great actress Laurette Taylor, who turned alcoholic at the height of her fame, her daughter Margaret wrote: "Everything has gone front this house. That is what alcohol does. When it comes into a house, everything goes--love, affection, loyalty, all decent human feeling--it leaves nothing. That is its terrible curse."
