Toe Test Vetoed

LONDON--Three High Court judges blocked a loophole in British drunken-driving laws this week by deciding that a man's big toe is not the place from which to take a blood sample.

The judges, hearing an appeal from a lower court, said that when David Pugh offered the police his big toe after he had been picked up on suspicion of drunken driving, he was, in effect, failing to provide a specimen.
