Alcoholics Prone to Accident

Alcoholics are seven times as likely as nonalcoholics to be the victims of fatal accidents, according to a survey published recently.

Berthold Brenner, a social epidemiologist at the National Institute of Mental Health, Bethesda, Md., based his conclusion on a study of 1,343 alcoholics who were treated at four San Francisco alcoholism centers and followed up for about five years.
