ST. Louis (AP)--A St. Louis University doctor says that the drinking of liquor retards production of a hormone that the body needs for chemical and emotional balance, while smoking stimulates production. As a result, heavy drinkers are likely to be heavy smokers.

Dr. B. D. Bhagat, associate professor of physiology and pharmacology, said that laboratory tests on rats and interviews of alcoholics tended to support his contention.
