Meet the U.S. Alcoholic

Who are these alcoholics? A recent national survey made by the Controller General estimated that 95% of them were employable, family-centered individuals and 5% persons from skid row. There were three men to every woman alcoholic.

As concerns education, an estimated 50% have attended or graduated from college; an additional 37% attended high school; 13% more, grammar school. As to employment, an estimated 45% were professional or managerial workers; 30%, manual laborers; 25%, white-collar workers.
