Statistics and Sharp Comments

In one year, according to FBI estimates, police throughout the nation apprehended and locked up approximately 1,825,500 lushes.

The statistics mean that 20% of all criminals arrested in the nation (8,117,700) are merely folks with too much sauce. They mean a tremendous waste on the nation's bulging jail and prison system. And they also mean, according to many penologists and law-enforcement officers, that the nation urgently needs to revaluate just who is a criminal in this society.
