GIs' Top Drug Problem
WASHINGTON, D. C.--A study made for the Department of Defense concludes that. . .alcoholism "may constitute a far more pervasive personnel problem than illegal drug use." While only 14% of all men [26,510 enlisted men] interviewed admitted spending money on drugs in the previous week, 84% admitted spending money on alcohol.
While only 1.7% of drug users admitted that they needed help, 5.3% of alcohol users admitted such a need.-- Dana Adams Schmidt
