In our drinking days, many of us met people in bars and nightclubs. Some of us, near the end, rarely left the house. So when we finally put down the bottle, get sober and begin to think about dating, many of us find it daunting. Thanks to good sponsors, the Steps and fellowship, there’s hope. AA has some great tools to help us navigate the world of relationships. This month’s special section features members’ experiences with sober dating.

In the story “Never Saw It Coming,” a member lets go of trying to find love, and guess what? It appears. In “Gone Berserk,” an AA guy confuses texting his girlfriend constantly and always checking up on her, with love. Thanks to AA, he gets the gift of emotional sobriety when it comes to relationships. After yet another broken heart, a woman in Canada embraces Step Three and finds true partnership in “The Love of My Life.” And with the help of AA, a member in New York City finds she doesn’t need a man on her arm or a drink in her hand to define her in the story “Table for One.”
