Dear Manuel

For one member, corresponding with an inmate has been a long, wonderful journey

In 2000, I walked into my first AA meeting, beaten and completely defeated. I eventually got a sponsor, and it was suggested that I get into service.

At first, this meant chairing meetings. After that, I served as treasurer, GSR and several positions in my district. I also worked on local committees and helped out at AA assemblies and conventions. I did all these things because I didn’t want to drink again. Yet I found myself longing for something different. I was soon to find it.
