Preparing to speak at an AA meeting on Step Seven, the author of “Broader and Broader” writes her thoughts about humility, truth, gratitude, isolation, prayer and ego. “Humility cannot be obtained,” she claims, it’s “like a prize that comes with no guarantee that you get to keep it.” She adds, “I see Step Seven as ... a pivotal point in the Twelve Step process.”
