Picking up

Even in my drinking days, I walked a lot with my dog. Many times my walks included a “sippy cup” of vodka and some sort of mixer. I’d often find spare change on the ground. I’d always up pick pennies, dimes and quarters with the self-pity mind-set of an alcoholic. I’d think, I better keep whatever money I can, so when I get fired and am broke, I’ll still have at least a little money to buy enough booze just to take the edge off.
