One s’more at a time

After a beautiful day on the Saco River, members trade shares and laughs by the fire. How’s that for adventure?

Kathleen and I waited in the parking lot. We said nervous greetings to people we had never met. Then we dropped our kayaks in the Saco River, in Brownfield, by the bridge. We anticipated an adventure. We were just not sure what that adventure would entail.

All of us on the trip that day had one thing in common—sobriety. Whoever said you can’t have fun sober was wrong. We loved all of it, the paddling along the river, the community around the campfire and the conversation with Ron, a real Appalachian Trail through-hiker. These were just some of the things we enjoyed on the trip.
