Ninth Step amends

The writer of “Long Overdue” knew that he owed his old landlord past due rent. But he would just push the guilt aside every time he was reminded of it. Luckily, his sponsor gave him a nudge to make the amend and he set out to find the man. “It had been a weight on my heart for 20 years,” he writes. Once he located him, it was time to pick up the phone.

What are some things you regret from your drinking days? Have you made amends before? Tell us about them. Do you have any you still need to make? Are any from long ago? Did you have a hard time finding people? How did your sponsor help you? What do you tell your sponsees when helping them with their amends? Have you ever not made an amend because “to do so would injure them or others”?
