WILDWOOD, N.J.--The annual Memorial Day journey of college students to the Jersey shore brought more than 100 arrests here and in North Wildwood over that weekend, mostly on drunkenness charges.

Police Chief Anthony J. Fulginiti said he thought that the rainy weekend and the lowering of the state's drinking age to 18 had combined to increase alcoholic consumption. "It seems a lot more of the kids were wetting their whistles," he said.
